Trigger Warning: Death & Suicidal Thoughts

If you didn’t already know, I have a complicated relationship with Death. Death has always knocked on my door as a sign of upheaval and change rather than loss, and me and my family’s near encounters with Death have brought perspective. I don’t believe I fear Death. As someone who struggles with depression and a history of suicidal rumination, there is a dangerous idea of peacefulness that comes with the idea of Death.

Here is a way to challenge that. Depression and a lack of motivation may, inevitably, lead to thoughts of Death. Acknowledge it. Take a moment, a brief moment, and think how you want to be remembered.  Not how you think other’s will remember you, but how you would want to be remembered. Than live towards that goal. Live to inspire those feelings in others. He says it all much better than I ever could in a simple paragraph.
