15. The Devil, the Magpie

The Magpie has an insatiable curiosity that has given it the reputation of a thief. Many plays and dramas have spoken of their desire to hoard pretty, often shiny objects. Sometimes the bird of myth stays stronger in our brains than the bird of reality. If you are feeling possessive, an uncontrollable need and preoccupation, this is the Magpie warning you of your fate. Too much attachment to material objects and personal gain will end up shackling you to that reputation. Yes you may be able to justify it to yourself, but don’t bog yourself down in greed that it consumes you. Challenge your inner Magpie by considering why you want what you do with a compassionate eye. Others may not afford you the same curiosity.
